Friedl's documentary film on Austria has been called "a disturbing and entrancing
road movie that traverses the lands of the Austrian soul" (Andrea Schurian on
ORF-TV). "Friedl never comments directly but through his 20/20 vision and his almost
hypnotic, cool compositions and montages … [the film] explodes the traditional
documentary format. It develops into its own playful art form which is comparable only to
a great piece of minimalist music--structured by patterns of visual and aural repetition
